is implementing a project to deploy SMRs that make up a fleet of new nuclear power plants in Poland.
GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy is our chosen technology vendor because the BWRX-300 reactor is the world’s most advanced and proven SMR technology on its way to commercialisation, and perfectly matched to Poland’s energy needs.
The company was established by ORLEN and Synthos Green Energy – companies actively implementing their sustainable development strategies with zero-emission energy generation as their main focus.
The BWRX-300 is currently the only technology available that can replace decommissioned coal-fired units with reactors of comparable size, and can guarantee stable baseload power.
Polish industry needs stable, zero-emission sources of electricity and heat to stay competitive in the global market. This can be provided by SMRs located next to large industrial plants.
SMRs like BWRX-300 are the only viable way to transform and decarbonise district heating. This solution is technically feasible, economical and environmentally sound.
The BWRX-300 is a 300 MWe water-cooled, natural circulation SMR with passive safety systems that leverage the design and licensing basis of GEH’s U.S. NRC-certified ESBWR.
Through dramatic and innovative design simplification, with the use of a licensed and proven fuel design and the incorporation of proven components and supply chain expertise, the BWRX-300 will be the lowest-risk, most cost-competitive and quickest way to market SMR technology
The BWRX-300 has been designed to achieve construction and operating costs that are substantially lower than traditional nuclear power generation technologies and other SMR technologies.

Projected to have up to 60% less capital cost per MW when compared with typical water-cooled small modular reactors. A construction period of 24-36 months significantly reduces capital costs
Deployable as early as 2028 (“First Of A Kind” in Canada) thanks to proven technology used in BWRX-300, designer’s know-how and standard construction techniques
